Closed Pie/Pastel Tutup

Closed pie

Some morning I start my day by browsing recipe books or going online to find a recipe for lunch and dinner. Most of the time, I cook in the morning enough dishes to last until dinner. However, last saturday, I did not cook enough for lunch and dinner. Last Saturday, we were busy with our routine of exercising, sending Amanda to Chinese class and groceries shopping that we ended up having to dine out for lunch. When we came home, we were tired and hungry and no food to eat. Fortunately, I saw this recipe that required very little preparation (in my opinion since if I cook Indonesian food, I have lots of preparation to do). What I had to do was boiled three pieces of potatoes, three eggs, cut the carrots into cube and thawed green peas.
We call it Pastel Tutup in Indonesian which means literally Closed Pie in English. I hardly ate this in Indonesia as it was only appeared on certain occasions like gathering and parties.

This dish is healthy as it has vegetable, protein and carbohydrate packed in one dish. Amanda and her father like it for its taste and I like it because it is healthy and easy to make.
