Do not buy stolen and copy paste books - My Almond cookies

I just heard sad news from a neighbor who is also an Indonesian food blogger that one of her pictures were stolen by an Indonesian publisher and printed as part of a recipe book. The culprit called itself CAM BOGA. It is very discouraging to know that your hard work and ideas are being stolen. Indonesia is one of the countries that are still active in selling pirated brand name products such as handbags, perfumes, music CD, books, movies, etc. Now the list is longer with the case of publishing stolen photographs. A similar case happened to one Indonesia food blogger whose food photograph was stolen and published on a franchise website. However, I have never knew anybody who would steal food photographs from many bloggers and printed them as a recipe book.
If you are in Indonesia, you can buy almost all new movies, which have not yet been played in the US or buy cheap DVD of famous movies. I remembered, when I was a student in Indonesia, many of my friends bought books from a place that sells pirated textbooks. I admit, I was one of them.
This issue also brought me back to my days as a college student in Erie. I strongly recalled what my English professor said at the first day of the class, "do not try to plagiarize other people's paper or you will have to face me!"
Whether it is plagiarism and pirating, both are the act of stealing. The government of Indonesia should step out and try to find new ideas to combat this bad habit. As for us, consumers, we can help by not buying pirated or stolen products especially books published by CAM BOGA.
I believe these thieves will not exist if there is no demand on these products.

Back to my kitchen. A while ago, I found a recipe for Pine nut and almond cookie on Martha Stewart. I omitted the pine nuts, as I did not have any pine nuts on hand.

So here is the recipe for Almond cookie without the pine nut,

Almond cookies 2

Ingredients :

Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.

1 1/4 cups pine nuts, plus more for garnish ( I did not use these nuts)
1 cup whole raw almonds ( I used cooked almonds)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large egg whites, plus 1 for brushing
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Fine sanding sugar, for sprinkling (optional)

Directions :

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Process half of the nuts in a food processor with 3 tablespoons granulated sugar until finely ground. Transfer to a large bowl. Repeat with remaining nuts and 3 more tablespoons sugar, and add to bowl. Stir in orange zest and salt. Beat 2 egg whites until fluffy. Gradually add remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and the vanilla, and beat until stiff peaks form. Fold into nut mixture. Using 2 teaspoons batter for each cookie, shape into balls, and place on parchment-lined baking sheets. Brush tops with egg white, and sprinkle with sanding sugar
(optional).
Bake until edges are golden and centers are set, about 17 minutes. Let cool on sheets for 10 minutes, then transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely. Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
