I was back in Singapore last summer and we had a great holiday! I got to see other parts of Singapore that I had not seen before and tasted true Singapore cuisine. Singapore is made up of many ethnics and cultures. There are Chinese, Malay, and southern Indian. I am a big fan of Indian food but I rarely go to any Indian restaurants. Singapore has many authentic Indian restaurants that promised to serve delicious and original Southern Indian food. I was fortunated to try one of them. One of my husband's friend brought us to an Indian resturant infront of Mustafa department store in Little India. I do not remember the name of the restaurant, however I remembered my friend's wife asked me to try mango lassi. I did try a sip and I gave it to my husband. I was not impressed back then. I guess, it was too sweet for me or I was just not into yougurt. Recently, I came across Mango lassi recipe in Martha Stewart website. I thought I should give this drink another try as I can adjust the taste to my palate.
The above picture is my entry for this month Click event 2009 : Spring/Autumn hosted by Jai and Bee
so here is the recipe for Mango Lassi :
Ingredients :
(Makes 5 cups)
2 ripe mangoes, (1 pound each)
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tablespoons honey
2 cups small ice cubes
Directions :
Peel mangoes and remove pits; coarsely chop flesh.
Puree mangoes and yogurt in a blender until smooth. Add lime juice and honey; pulse to combine. Add ice; blend until incorporated. Serve immediately.

I made mine without extra honey and it was still taste delicious. The sweetness of the mangoes was enough to satify my sweet carving. I also added in chopped mangoes on top of the lassi. My husband enjoyed it as much as I did but not Amanda. She tried a little bit and refused to try again. I am planning to try making mango lassi again and planning to persuade Amanda to try it one more time.
