Erie Asian Festival 2011

Indonesia Table

Last Saturday was our 2nd time participating in the Erie Asian Festival. I am always very excited when I get to show my country, my culture and my food. So this year besides displaying cooking utensils and jewelries, I thought it would be fun to let the people of Erie taste Indonesian tea. We gave away two different kinds of tea; Jasmine tea and Black tea.

Free tea

The tea stand was a hit. We managed to finish 350 cups. And if you wonder which kind of tea they like best...it was Jasmine tea.

The wonderful photo in the frame was by Vania Samperuru

Another thing that I wanted to do was to show the beautiful scenery of Indonesia. This year, we displayed pictures of Indonesian villages and cities. I was fortunate to have a friend who is an excellent photographer. Her landscape photos are so amazing, I got to display some of them. Lucky me! To know more about her, please visit Vania Samperuru

This event was not only for adults but also for kids. Amanda had lots of fun learning about other countries and their cultures,

Countries
This year, there were 12 countries participating in this event; Indonesia, India, China, the Philippines, Burma, Bhutan, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Bangladesh, Pakistan. And if you are interested in knowing more about the game of each country, there were two activity booths to go to.

Activities
And for those people who loved to try different kind of spices, the food counters were the place. Look at those delicious Indian food!

We had a great time and I hope I can get to participate in the next Erie Asian Festival. That will be two years from now!
